Day 543: To Live Unclouded by Longing

Day 543: To Live Unclouded by Longing

Day 543: 20 September 2022, Tuesday

There are only so many ways one can choose to live each day, each moment, yet every one is new, uncertain, and overflowing with the vital stuff of becoming, the substance of being.

‘Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.’

Ursula K. Le Guin

Have a small plot of land each day… learn to spot the subtle and generous affirmations of being throughout one’s time awake, like the gifts and tests of faith here and there. We’re all cloud-chasers in the meantime, lost in thought.

‘Don’t you see it’s all perfect?’

Neem Karoli Baba

Divine grace is sometimes a very horrible thing, however beautiful. How strange is that? That what happens no matter how terrible or beautifully, must have happened just as it did.; This isn’t to say it couldn’t have happened otherwise, but rather that the reality in which it did happen is this one, this way. To look the world in the eyes with a straight face is a very difficult practice in this regard.

How wholesome… the world is a far out place and it’s all unfolding right here, right in front of your eyes.

Can you see with eyes unclouded by fear or longing? Can you see how each of us are reflections of one another? Can you love in this place where there are no errors, no mistakes in the game? How different would it be to hold loving-compassion in each moment of awareness?

Who is it that closes your heart? What is it? What do you find unable to love? One need not approve nor endorse that which is awful in order to accept it as it is, to show compassion toward it. Even those closest to us can grow difficult to love. What is the path of an open heart?

‘By your own efforts, waken yourself.’ Buddha
