Day 551: Buying Bewilderment

Day 551: Buying Bewilderment

Day 551: 23 November 2022, Wednesday

There is nothing outside this moment. Are you living life for yourself or for an Other?

We have not seen anything yet.

November remembers

Spring more lovingly

Than Fall

Every remembrance carries in it a tiny wish, a single ember of hope, of clarity toward a real goal, a small fire of longing within each memory, a glimmer of re-collection. Times change but nothing is more unchanging than time itself. The child grows and the adult emerges only when all of the child has been integrated into the adult. Where does one end and the other begin? Assimilated totally, nothing remains. As Nietzsche put it: one regains the seriousness of a child at play. Cause and effect are clear.

Thinking about the past is just fine—but it’s the source of much suffering, too. Balance is important. Necessary suffering? No suffering is deserved, but some is necessary. Do you really believe an end to suffering in this life is possible? Can you realize it now? Can we not strive for it—here and now—and at the same time admit that it is still in the works, we’re still growing, we’re incomplete, the process is yet underway?

Beware the waiting-room.

‘Reason is like an officer when the King appears; the officer then loses his power and hides himself. Reason is the shadow cast by God; God is the sun.’
